I have an ambivalent relationship to this CD.
I really feel this release a bit too literally is mr. Joystick PLAYING!. It's too much keyboardconcert and not enough... Well, I don't exactly know what made Bellicose Pacific so great, but it's not here. Having said that though, I really have to mention the tracks 'Bottle Rocket' and 'Sometimes Always'. Those two tracks are so beautiful. I'd almost say they make all the mediocre keyboardhammering worthwhile. In Bellicose Pacific you had 'Eight' that sort of stood out because it was so perfect and beautiful. Well, that's nothing compared to 'Sometimes Always'. I almost shed a tear when I heard it the first time. A work of art. Then you have the 'I'm Not Elton John' track, which also is way above average, but that's about it. The rest of the tracks are downright annoying. 'Blues For Ben'? 'Hot Licks For Jed'? What the hell? I personally feel a 12 inch would have been sufficient.
