Leaves Turn Inside You is the culmination of Unwound's three-year process of reinvention, and on first listen by anyone familiar with the band's trademark slash-and-burn abrasiveness, the transition seems anything but subtle. The path that led to the band's first double album wasn't an abrupt and contrived stylistic leap, however. Songs in album Unwound - Leaves Turn Inside You 2001. Unwound - We Invent You. Leaves Turn Inside You. Critic Score. User Score. Much of Unwounds work is hard to fully appreciate at first, as Leaves Turn Inside You especially proves this reviewer spent a year trying to realize what all the fuss was about. And it's not hard to imagine what was so off-putting for me: opening with two minutes of nothing but feedback, this seminal album swiftly transfers into a melancholic hodgepodge of epic post-rock, dream pop, noise rock, and moody, subdued instrumentals. Unwound do all these styles very well, along with the guitar-led, mellow yet lyrically anxious indie rock that dominates much of the rest of the album. Leaves Turn Inside You is much too massive and sprawling an album to discuss track by track. There aren't really any bubbly or anthemic songs such as Fake Train's Dragnalus or anything of the throat-shredding screams Trosper is well-known for like on The Future of What's Here Come the Dogs. The length of the album is somewhat mind-numbing, as is the relatively slow tempo of most of the songs
Somebody in the uk sort me out a cd version of this and Repetition please

Is anyone else's copy of this a little noisy, or have I just picked a slightly dirty copy up? I've tried giving it a thorough clean but there's still some surface noise in quieter periods.

We deeply need a vinyl reissue of this album. :(

it's been reissued and it does not disappoint. really nice pressing & sound stage.

Out today via Numero group! You can thank the much maligned city of Chicago for being so fruitful!

Brick my own
Agreed! Reissue, remaster/remix.... something other than what Numero did with Empire, since that was like 4 LPs in one. I just want to buy LTIY without all that extra stuff.

There’s a preorder on Fatbeats right now, I’m not sure of the details of the repress yet.
